I have been very surprised this summer. Although I had a stack of books waiting for my attention, I got to very few of them. When I did, I found the majority disappointing and lackluster. However, I rediscovered my love of magazines, particularly The Walrus, and I am looking forward to passing on my findings with you all. One essay in particular, kept me reading because it described what the journey of a cyclist in the Tour de France entails. Another was written by a man who is in prison for life for the murder of his parents and brothers, a crime for which he claims innocence. His ideas about freedom and his rich vocabulary challenged me, living as a free woman in Canada. What have you read this summer? What movies have caught your attention?
I have read a lot of magazine articles as well this summer. I haven't read quite a lot books except a bit of The Hobbit, which I'm enjoying. The magazine articles I've read are about peoples struggles in life including tragedies which make me grateful how lucky I am to be safe and happy. I have watched mostly nerdy movies such as the new Harry Potter, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, all of my favourites.

Didn't read as many books as I wanted this summer, I read The Fighters Mind- which was enjoyable as an athlete, and Angelology- which got me pretty enfatuated with the idea of Nephilim.

Particularly liked Dog Pound, Donnie Darko and St.Ralph.

I haven't read a lot of books either, I started to read this one book called notes from underground which is pretty interesting. I've also read many magazine articles. I don't particularly like to watch movies but one of my all time favorites is 500 days of summer, which I have watched multiple times over the summer break.
Netflix sucks! Haha :)

I haven't looked at a book all summer to be honest, haven't read any magazines either. I have watched a few of my favourite movies over again like Coach Carter, Rush hour, Independence Day, and even Bad Boys. All these movies I have really enjoyed. Most of my summer has been in the states supporting my basketball team, (barely played cause of injury) or staying at home helping around the house because I just moved. Easily the worst summer of my life cause of my knee injury.

i started and finished reading the eye of the world this summer. i don't read magazines and didn't even touch a newspaper, not even to do the puzzles or to read the comics.
i was planning to see a movie in theatres with my brother but that didn't seem to pan out. it was nice visiting my brother a couple of weekends and seeing my nephew (who is one year old sometime at the end of this month). though i did watch a couple of seasons of samurai jack.

This summer my mom introduced me to "Under the Dome" by Stephen King. It's a goal of mine to read at LEAST one Stephen King novel before next Summer. Although I'm not that far into the novel, I am really enjoying the way he writes. I watched a ton of movies this summer from Harry Potter 7 part 2 to The Rise of the Planet of the Apes. I think I enjoy watching movies the most when they are played at the Twilight Drive In.:D

This summer some of the books that have caught my attention are Flipped and I Am J. both of these book have teenager protagonist whom are trying to find themselves. This is very important to me because this is my last year of high school and I feel as if I must try and figure out what I am going to do after graduation.
A movie I saw in theatres this summer was Captain America. Mostly because it is an action super hero movie (an epic?) but the way the movie is put together is amazing. I also enjoyed how it was set in the past unlike other hero movie which are usually set in the present with flashbacks. Two movies from my favourite actor, Edward Norton, which I saw this summer was Primal Fear and Fight Club. While they both deal with spilt personality’s they are vastly different.

I didn't read any books, other then reading the newspaper quite a bit actually. I enjoyed the things I found in the newspaper because some of them were quite interesting. I watched quite a few movies, I actually watched Dead Poets Society, also my other favorite movie Just Go With it about a million times. Other then that I didn't do too much reading.

this summer i read a lot of magazines, mostly 17 magazine and other veriouse magazines. there was one book that caught my eye that was a book called " please stop laughing at me" by jodee Blanco. it was about a girl who was teased and tortured at school by other students who she thought were her friends and how she survived and learned from it all.
the fact that it was a true story also caught my eye because of the fact that its not made up, its actually a real story from a real person that actually happened and she wanted others to learn from this inspirational story.

Most of you know at least something about me--that I'm happily married, that I have a daughter, Sara, who is married to Daniel, my son-in-law, as well as a son named Tristan. Alas, our temperamental Maine coon, Eliot, fell prey to a coyote this year, although our downstairs' neighbours' cat, Jeffrey, has made our couch his second domain.
